When is the Time for My Fiance and I to Send Out our Wedding Invitations?

A lot of couples wonder what is the proper time to begin delivering wedding invitations. Primarily, wedding planning could involve a lot of time and work and so it’s crucial to know when and how to send the necessary invitations. Before a couple begins worrying about the quantity of candle wedding favors that they’re going to offer, they must first be able to determine how many guests are going to confirm their attendance.

When you have an estimate on how many guests are going on that special day, then it’s time to mail out those special wedding invitations. It is a common exercise to send out these invitations at least 6-8 weeks prior to the big day. This is enough lead time for the guests to answer to the invites and for the couple to make a last head count for the seating arrangements, meals to be served, and the quantity of wedding favors candles to be given out.

If it is a conventional wedding that you’re planning to have, the wedding invitations need to be delivered at least six weeks before the wedding day. It is also essential to call the guests and to ask them if they have received your invites. Guests who live out of the state can be mailed a week ahead of time. The RSVP date for them should be set at 3 weeks prior to the wedding date.

For couples who like to have a destination wedding, there must be at least 3 weeks for guests to RSVP. The guests have to work on travel arrangements and other stuff that is why you should not be unjust by hurrying them up with last-minute invites.

One of the unspoken etiquettes of mailing wedding invitations is for the couple to not invite guests over the phone, through email or even fax. It’s a major no-no! You can go ahead and decide to pay your guests a visit and ask them personally but it is never good etiquette to just rely on fax, email and your cell phone.

Everything may be a bit frustrating at first but never lose hope. A lot of people are willing to help couples who are about to tie the knot – relatives, friends, colleagues, and obviously those wedding planners! Once you have completed mailing out your wedding invitations, it’s time to look at other elements of the wedding like the menu, the place of the reception, the wedding music, and also the wedding favors. Once everything’s done, only then can you unwind and be able to focus on having your beauty treatments done!
